Beat Stress Overload & Problematic Patterns--
Ninety percent of illness is caused by stress, says the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC)
Traditional medical thinking ignores the big picture, treating the symptoms while ignoring the causes -- basically STRESS and the body self- abuse, stress eating, etc., we indulge in.
Stress-- the alienation of mind, spirit and soul are the major causes of disease.
And so much more.
Major illnesses now chronic in the U.S. are a result of how we spend our lives. That is, stressed out and most often using food, drugs, vices, etc., to survive it all. And that's where disease starts-- within ourselves, our lifestyles and habits which most often are dictated by stress.

Dangers of Stress
Nearly 70% of those surveyed said that being stressed, they tend to turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms. That includes overeating, bad food and/or life choices, smoking, drug use, etc. So that adds to the already dangerous effect of stress on the body.
Statistics support the claim that stress kills. Based on this study, individuals who experience moderate or high levels of regular stress have a notably higher mortality rate compared to those who don’t. Research shows in that people under constant stress have a 50% higher mortality rate.
Individuals who are under constant stress are 20% more likely to have heart disease, one
of the most common killers worldwide. Statistics on stress shows that people under constant stress have a 20% chance of developing heart disease or fatal instances of stroke. The stress hormones produced in the body increase heart rate to an abnormal levels. They constrict the blood vessels increasing the chance of significantly damaging the heart.
Being under constant pressure is abnormal and dangerous to the body. Body hormones (the “inner drug store” are secreted in excess of what’s healthy long term. As with any drug that’s overdone, they cause harm to the body. Chronic stress causes the body to produce higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Evidence shows that the human brain and the gut are connected. When we feel stressed we produce chemicals like serotonin. These hormones are found in the gut and are known for affecting your mood. Together with the additional over- production of adrenaline, and cortisol, these negatively impact digestion. 82% of Americans have problems with their digestion. One study showed that patients with constipation are usually exposed to more stressful life events in contrast to those who have more relaxing lives. Other physical symptoms of stress in digestion include diarrhea and IBS.
Fatigue is one of the most prevalent stress symptoms. 51% of adults experience fatigue, 44% experience headaches, and 30% have tension in their muscles due to stress.

The Stress Cycle-- Addictive Responses
Certain events or life conditions can trigger old patterns long ago encoded in the brain. True or not, our interpretation of past experiences may have us believing we aren't safe or don't have what's neccesary to overcome our challenges. When triggered, the fearful stress response releases chemicals in the body that can even trigger further distress.
The chemicals released are like an "inner drug store". Adrenaline and other hormones act together to stimulate us to fight or flight. We get a boost of energy or momentary confidence. It seems a solution to our fear. But often the fear itself is a misnomer. Often, a pattern of thinking is established which leads us to the same dysfunctional response over and over.
Recent studies now reveal the truth behind our stressful thinking. we have the keys to overcome it permanently, to leave it behind and live in new understanding, beliefs, and patterns that bring joy instead of tension.
Our minds, our souls, our hearts are crying out for relief from distress.
We need help and that help is here. We can begin right here, right now to lower our stress and give our bodies a chance to recover. But it will take more than temporary methods.
