Traditional medical thinking ignores the big picture, treating the symptoms while ignoring the causes -- basically STRESS and the body self- abuse, stress eating, etc., we indulge in.

The Stress Cycle-- Addictive Responses
Certain events or life conditions can trigger old patterns long ago encoded in the brain. True or not, our interpretation of past experiences may have us believing we aren't safe or don't have what's necessary to overcome our challenges. When triggered, the fearful stress response releases chemicals in the body that can even trigger further distress.
The chemicals released are like an "inner drug store". Adrenaline and other hormones act together to stimulate us to fight or flight. We get a boost of energy or momentary confidence. It seems a solution to our fear. But often the fear itself is a misnomer. Often, a pattern of thinking is established which leads us to the same dysfunctional response over and over.
Recent studies now reveal the truth behind our stressful thinking. we have the keys to overcome it permanently, to leave it behind and live in new understanding, beliefs, and patterns that bring joy instead of tension.
Our minds, our souls, our hearts are crying out for relief from distress.
